Welcome Morning in agadir city – Airport then Transition from coast to mountains. Route: Leave Agadir, head inland via Aoulouz (gateway to the Souss Valley), through Ouzioua and the dramatic Tifnout Valley. Witness the landscape changing from arid plains to verdant valleys and Berber villages. Highlight: The first glimpses of the High Atlas and the winding mountain roads. Overnight: A guesthouse or riad in Amsouzart.
Today High Atlas trekking adventure. Trek: A demanding but immensely rewarding 2-3 hour round-trip trek from Amsouzart (or a drive partway to the trailhead). The path leads you through rocky valleys to the breathtaking Lake Ifni, with the towering walls of the Toubkal Massif reflected in its emerald waters. Highlight: Picnicking by the lake, surrounded by peaks like Toubkal and The sheer scale of the mountains is unforgettable. Overnight: Back at your riad/auberge in Amsouzart.

Mountain pass and first taste of the desert fringe. Route: Drive to Tidili, then the Ouarzazate famous Hollywood of Africa (optional quick photo stop at Taourirt Kasbah or film studios). Continue southeast into the Draa Valley, a 200km-long oasis lined with ancient kasbahs and millions of palm trees, to N’koub. Highlight: The dramatic shift in landscape crossing the pass, from green mountains to the pre-Saharan hues of red and ochre. Overnight: A riad/kasbah in N’koub.
Theme: Desert journey and magical Sahara night. Route: Via Tazzarine (the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs”), Alnif, and Rissani (former imperial city, lively market). Arrive at the dunes of Merzouga in the afternoon. Highlight: Camels trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset. Arrive at a desert camp for a night under the stars with Berber music, a tagine dinner, and incredible silence. Overnight: Luxury Desert Camp (private tent with en-suite recommended).
Early Morning Sunrise and dramatic gorges. Route: Watch the sunrise over the dunes. Return to Merzouga, drive north via Erfoud (fossil town) to the magnificent Todra Gorge, sheer 300m cliffs. Walk through the canyon. Continue along the “Road of Kasbahs” to the Dades Valley, known for its surreal “monkey finger” rock formations. Highlight: A short hike in Todra Gorge and the view from the Dades Gorge serpentines. Overnight: Riad/Kasbah in Dades Valley.

Scenic journey and UNESCO heritage. Route: Drive through the fragrant Rose Valley (especially stunning in April-May), visit the Kasbah Amridil in Skoura oasis. The crown jewel: Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and iconic fortified village (film location for Gladiator, Game of Thrones). Cross the High Atlas again via the Tizi n’Tichka pass.
